HTC Advances US$10.6 Million Multi-Package Infrastructure Program at Al-Qweirah Industrial City

Oct 10, 2022

Successive turnkey infrastructure packages deliver major earthworks, flood protection, roads, utilities and control systems across more than one million square meters in southern Jordan.

Aqaba, Jordan — October 2022

Hasan Al-Tarawneh & Sons Contracting Co. Ltd. (HTC Contracting) is advancing a US$10.6 million multi-package infrastructure program at Al-Qweirah Industrial City, delivering the major civil and utility infrastructure required to support industrial development in southern Jordan.

HTC’s involvement has expanded through successive infrastructure packages covering large-scale earthworks, flood protection, roads, utility networks, water infrastructure, electrical systems and associated industrial development works.

Together, the packages form a major integrated infrastructure program transforming more than one million square meters of desert terrain into a serviced, flood-protected and development-ready industrial environment.

Large-Scale Earthworks & Site Development

A major component of HTC’s works involves extensive earthworks and site formation across the industrial development.

The program includes bulk excavation, engineered filling, grading, material processing and formation works across road corridors, utility routes, hydraulic infrastructure and future industrial development areas.

The scale of these operations requires coordinated equipment deployment, material movement and execution across multiple simultaneous workfronts.

Flood Protection & Hydraulic Infrastructure

The development incorporates major flood protection and stormwater infrastructure designed for the environmental conditions of southern Jordan.

HTC’s works include flood retention infrastructure, drainage channels, hydraulic structures, gabion and riprap protection systems and associated earthworks.

These systems are designed to manage seasonal runoff and wadi flows while protecting roads, utilities and future industrial facilities across the development.

Roads & Integrated Utility Networks

HTC’s scope extends across the road and utility infrastructure required to create a fully serviced industrial development.

The program includes internal roads, asphalt paving, curbstones, pedestrian infrastructure and associated surface works.

Integrated utility networks include water supply, sewerage, stormwater drainage, firefighting systems, irrigation, telecommunications and associated chambers and infrastructure.

The development also incorporates water storage, pumping infrastructure and supporting systems required for long-term industrial operations.

Electrical, Automation & Control Systems

The infrastructure program includes electrical and control systems supporting the operation of the wider industrial development.

Works include street lighting, electrical distribution infrastructure, motor control systems and integrated automation and monitoring capabilities.

The combination of civil, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical and control infrastructure creates a coordinated platform capable of supporting future industrial operations and expansion.

Building a Major Industrial Platform in Southern Jordan

The Al-Qweirah Industrial City program represents a significant infrastructure development within Jordan’s southern economic corridor.

Through successive packages, HTC is helping establish the roads, utilities, flood protection systems and supporting infrastructure required to transform undeveloped land into an operational industrial platform.

The project demonstrates HTC’s ability to manage major multi-disciplinary infrastructure developments requiring simultaneous coordination across earthworks, roads, hydraulic systems, utilities, structures and electrical infrastructure.

Strengthening HTC’s Industrial Infrastructure Portfolio

At US$10.6 million, the Al-Qweirah Industrial City program represents a major addition to HTC’s industrial and infrastructure portfolio.

The multi-package development strengthens HTC’s experience in industrial infrastructure, large-scale earthworks, flood protection, road construction, utility networks, water infrastructure, electrical systems and turnkey infrastructure delivery.

The program further reinforces HTC’s growing portfolio of major infrastructure projects in Aqaba and southern Jordan.
