HTC Awarded US$14.5 Million Under-Deck Rehabilitation Contract at Aqaba Container Terminal

Hasan Al-Tarawneh & Sons Contracting Co. Ltd. (HTC Contracting) has been awarded the US$14.5 million Under Deck Repair Works at Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT), marking another major addition to HTC’s marine and port infrastructure portfolio in Aqaba.

The award represents HTC’s third successive major project at Aqaba Container Terminal since 2025, following the Above Deck Repair Works and the Ro-Ro Ramp & Berthing Dolphins Rehabilitation Works.

Together, these successive awards reflect HTC’s expanding role at Aqaba Container Terminal and a growing track record in the rehabilitation and life extension of critical marine infrastructure within a live operational port environment.

Major Under-Deck Repair Works

The project covers extensive rehabilitation of key structural elements beneath the terminal deck, including wharf piles, pile caps, beams, soffits, headstocks, reinforcement and associated marine concrete structures.

The works include structural repairs, concrete rehabilitation, reinforcement reinstatement, pile protection and strengthening, crack repairs and related restoration works across multiple areas of the terminal.

Execution will take place within an operational container terminal, requiring controlled marine-side access, coordinated work sequencing, strict safety and quality controls, and continuous coordination with terminal operations.

Third Successive HTC Project at Aqaba Container Terminal

The Under Deck Repair Works continue HTC’s expanding programme of work at ACT.

In 2025, HTC was awarded the Above Deck Repair Works, covering rehabilitation of the terminal deck and associated infrastructure.

This was followed by the Ro-Ro Ramp & Berthing Dolphins Rehabilitation Works, extending HTC’s involvement into major marine access and berthing infrastructure.

The latest Under Deck Repair Works further expand HTC’s role into the rehabilitation of the wharf structure beneath the terminal deck.

The continuation from one major package to the next demonstrates HTC’s ability to repeatedly mobilize and deliver demanding rehabilitation works within one of Jordan’s most important operational port environments.

Delivering Complex Works in a Live Port Environment

The project will be executed within the operational environment of Aqaba Container Terminal, where construction activities must be carefully coordinated with ongoing terminal operations.

Working beneath the terminal deck requires controlled access, marine-side working arrangements, careful sequencing of multiple work areas, and close coordination of safety, quality and operational interfaces.

This combination of structural rehabilitation and live-terminal execution further demonstrates HTC’s ability to deliver technically demanding works while maintaining the controls required within critical operating infrastructure.

Strengthening HTC’s Marine Infrastructure Portfolio

At US$14.5 million, the Under Deck Repair Works represent a significant marine infrastructure award and further strengthen HTC’s experience in marine rehabilitation, wharf infrastructure, structural concrete repair, pile rehabilitation and port asset-life-extension works.

Scheduled to commence in August 2026 with an execution period of one year, the project will contribute to the long-term durability and serviceability of key infrastructure at Aqaba Container Terminal.

The award reinforces HTC’s growing marine and port infrastructure portfolio and continues the company’s expanding programme of major works at Aqaba Container Terminal.
