High-end waterfront development package expands HTC’s portfolio across public realm, landscape, architectural finishes and integrated infrastructure in Aqaba.
Aqaba, Jordan — March 2022
Hasan Al-Tarawneh & Sons Contracting Co. Ltd. (HTC Contracting) has been awarded the Saraya Aqaba Waterfront Promenade & Plaza Works, delivering a major public-realm and external-works package within one of Aqaba’s prominent mixed-use waterfront developments.
The project covers the development of a 315-meter waterfront promenade and approximately 8,500 m² of promenade, plaza and landscaped areas, integrating pedestrian spaces, architectural finishes, landscape systems and supporting infrastructure within a unified coastal environment.
The award expands HTC’s portfolio beyond major civil and infrastructure works into high-quality waterfront development, public realm and integrated urban construction.
Waterfront Promenade & Public Realm Development
HTC’s works include the construction and development of the main waterfront promenade, plaza areas, pedestrian circulation routes and associated public spaces.
The package incorporates extensive paving, coping, walkways, waterfront edge treatments and architectural elements designed to create a durable and high-quality public environment.
The completed development will form an important pedestrian and gathering destination within Saraya Aqaba, connecting landscape, public space and waterfront architecture.
Architectural Finishes & Waterfront Elements
The project includes a broad range of architectural and finishing works contributing to the visual identity and long-term performance of the development.
HTC’s scope includes architectural paving, marine-grade stone finishes, waterfront coping, steps, retaining elements and integrated balustrade systems incorporating glass, stainless steel and other coastal-grade materials.
These works require careful detailing and quality control to achieve a premium architectural finish while maintaining durability under coastal exposure conditions.
Landscape, Lighting & Integrated Infrastructure
The development incorporates complete landscape and supporting infrastructure systems across the promenade and plaza areas.
Works include irrigation networks, planting, landscape lighting, electrical infrastructure, water and drainage systems and associated utility services supporting the operation of the public realm.
Architectural water features, public seating areas and other urban elements further contribute to the activation and usability of the waterfront environment.
Delivering Within a Premium Waterfront Development
Execution at Saraya Aqaba requires close coordination between civil construction, architectural finishes, landscaping and mechanical and electrical systems.
The coastal location introduces additional requirements for material selection, waterproofing, detailing and protection against marine environmental exposure.
The project demonstrates HTC’s ability to coordinate multiple construction disciplines while delivering both technical performance and the architectural quality expected within a premium waterfront development.
Expanding HTC’s Waterfront & Urban Development Portfolio
The Saraya Aqaba Promenade project represents an important addition to HTC’s portfolio of waterfront development, public realm, external works, landscaping and integrated infrastructure projects.
By combining civil works, architectural finishes, landscape systems, utilities and electrical infrastructure within one coordinated package, the project demonstrates HTC’s versatility across both major infrastructure and high-quality urban development environments.
The award further strengthens HTC’s growing project portfolio in Aqaba and its experience delivering complex developments across Jordan’s coastal and urban sectors.
