HTC Awarded USAID-Funded Wadi Rum Booster Station & Water Infrastructure Project

Hasan Al-Tarawneh & Sons Contracting Co. Ltd. (HTC Contracting) has been awarded the Wadi Rum Booster Station Project for Aqaba Water Company (AWC), delivering a turnkey water infrastructure package supporting the reliability and expansion of water supply across the Wadi Rum area.

The project is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and combines civil, structural, pipeline, mechanical, electrical and infrastructure works within a single coordinated delivery package.

Located within the remote desert environment of Wadi Rum, the project requires careful logistics, construction planning and system integration to deliver critical water infrastructure across challenging terrain.

Turnkey Wadi Rum Booster Station

The project includes the construction of a complete water booster station compound incorporating the principal infrastructure required for reliable water transfer and operation.

HTC’s works include a reinforced-concrete water reservoir, pump room, chlorination facilities, operator and service buildings, external infrastructure and associated site development.

The facility integrates structural construction with mechanical, electrical and process systems to create a fully operational water infrastructure asset.

6 km Water Transmission Pipeline

A major component of the project is the installation of a 6 km ductile-iron water transmission pipeline connecting the booster station with the wider water network.

The pipeline works include trenching, bedding, installation, backfilling, associated valves and fittings, thrust blocks, testing and integration with existing water infrastructure.

Executing the transmission route through remote desert terrain requires coordinated earthworks, pipeline construction, access planning and logistics management across an extended project corridor.

Mechanical, Electrical & Process Infrastructure

The project incorporates the electromechanical and process systems required for the operation and control of the booster station.

Works include pumping equipment, process piping, chlorination systems, electrical distribution, MCC panels, control systems, lighting, ventilation, plumbing and supporting building services.

The integration of civil, structural and electromechanical systems within one turnkey package demonstrates HTC’s ability to deliver complete operational water infrastructure rather than isolated construction components.

Delivering Critical Infrastructure in Wadi Rum

Construction within the Wadi Rum desert environment introduces demanding logistical and environmental conditions.

The project requires coordinated movement of equipment, materials and personnel across a remote site while managing pipeline works, structural construction and electromechanical installation across multiple workfronts.

The USAID-funded project also places strong emphasis on environmental, safety and construction controls appropriate to the sensitive Wadi Rum environment.
